My Future

For a long time I have known what I've wanted to be when I grow up, a lot people's childhoods minds were set on things like, a firefighter, a police officer, a doctor, or a teacher. When I was younger I always had an urge to be an eye doctor. I didn't get glasses until the second grade, but even before that being an eye doctor interested me.
Since covid has happened I have seen how multiple business are being shut down, and losing a lot of workers. I enjoy helping people, and if that means helping someone find the perfect pair of glasses, or help them with an eye problem, then I am all for it.
There are two types of eye doctors I would love to be. An optometrist, which is the main eye doctor that you have your yearly eye checks up, or an optician, which is the eye doctor that performs the eye surgery on you. Both of these things interest me, although one is harder than the other to achieve; these past couple years have taught me that I am up for any challenge that is thrown at me.

  1. I commend you for this ambitious plan! Eyes are so fascinating. I wonder what it was that got you interested in becoming an eye doctor? I had a little crush on an optometrist who visited our 6th grade Bilology class, but even then, I didn't imagine a health-related field for myself (I'm squeamish!). So, good for you! I hope you realize this dream, Brianna! OH, this reminds me: There's an AMAZING short film I saw one year at Sundance. It's called "Ocularist." I searched and found it on Vimeo. Enjoy! https://vimeo.com/246177363.
